Roadmap & Resources

Check If Your Business Is Eligible & Prepare Your Details

Confirm Eligibility

Before creating a profile, make sure the business is eligible.

Google Business Profile is primarily for businesses that interact with customers in person — either at a physical location or by traveling to customers. Online-only businesses generally are not eligible.

Examples of eligible businesses include restaurants, salons, auto repair shops, dentists, retail stores, cleaning services, plumbers, landscapers, electricians, mobile service businesses, and other businesses that meet customers in person.

Storefront or Service-Area Business?

Choose the setup that matches the real business.

Storefront Business

Customers visit your location — for example a salon, restaurant, dental clinic, or auto repair shop. You can normally display the business address.

Service-Area Business

You travel to customers instead — for example a cleaning company, plumber, landscaper, or mobile detailing business.

IMPORTANT

If customers do not visit your business address, Google says you should remove/hide that address and define the areas you serve instead. Do not publish a private home address simply to appear on Google Maps.

Prepare Your Business Information

Have these ready:

- Official business name

- Primary business category

- Address, if customers visit it

- Service area, if applicable

- Phone number

- Website URL

- Opening hours

- Services

- Business description

- Logo

- A few real business photos

NOTE

Keep the information consistent with what appears on your website.

Check Your Website

If your AI-built website contains placeholder or inconsistent business information, fix that first.

Business Information Audit

Identifies the business name, address, service area, phone number, website/domain, opening hours, services, and contact info across the header, footer, Contact page, About page, service pages, location sections, and structured data — flags inconsistent, placeholder, conflicting, duplicate, or outdated details, invents nothing, and lists exactly what to confirm before creating the Google Business Profile.

Review this website specifically for preparing it for a Google Business Profile. Do not change anything yet. Identify the business information currently shown across the website: - business name - address - service area - phone number - website/domain - opening hours - services - contact information Check the: - header - footer - Contact page - About page - service pages - location sections - structured data if present Identify: - inconsistent business information - placeholder information - conflicting addresses - conflicting phone numbers - outdated opening hours - duplicate or inaccurate location information Do not invent missing business details. Finish with a short list of the information I should confirm before creating the Google Business Profile.

Add or Claim Your Business on Google

Search for an Existing Profile First

First search Google and Google Maps for the business. A profile may already exist even if you did not create it.

If the business already exists, claim the existing Business Profile rather than creating another one.

If it does not exist, create a new Business Profile and enter the real business information.

Choose the Primary Category

Select the category that most accurately represents the main business.

For example: Plumber, Hair Salon, Auto Repair Shop, Roofing Contractor, or Cleaning Service.

Choose what the business is, rather than trying to list every service in the category field.

Add Your Website

Use the real production website URL.

Example

https://yourbusiness.com

Google's guidelines recommend using the authoritative website and phone number for the individual business location.

Verify & Complete Your Business Profile

Choose a Verification Method

Google normally requires verification before you can fully manage the profile. The verification method is chosen automatically by Google and can vary based on the business, location, public information, and other factors.

Available methods may include video recording, phone or SMS, email, live video, or other methods offered for that specific business.

NOTE

You cannot simply choose any verification method you want; use the options Google presents for the profile.

If video verification is requested, be prepared to demonstrate that the business is real and that you are authorized to manage it.

IMPORTANT

Do not use fake locations, virtual offices, or business information you cannot verify.

After verification, fill in the useful information customers need. Check:

Business name

Category

Phone number

Website

For a service-area business, Google currently allows you to define service areas using cities, postal codes, or other areas, with up to 20 service areas.

NOTE

Do not select huge unrelated areas simply because Google allows multiple entries. Use the places the business realistically serves.

Match the Website

Once the Google profile information is finalized, update the website if necessary.

Sync Website With Confirmed Google Business Profile

Updates only the website locations that conflict with the confirmed business name, phone, address/service area, hours, and domain — checks header, footer, Contact/About pages, service/location sections, phone and address links, and structured data if present — never redesigns, never invents missing information, never touches technical config unless it's genuinely public business info, runs the production build, and reports exactly what changed without deploying.

Update this website so its public business information matches the confirmed Google Business Profile information below. Business name: [BUSINESS NAME] Phone: [PHONE] Address or service area: [ADDRESS / SERVICE AREA] Opening hours: [HOURS] Website: [DOMAIN] Review every user-facing location where this information appears. Update only information that conflicts with the confirmed details. Check: - header - footer - Contact page - About page - service/location sections - phone links - address links - structured business/location data if the project already uses it Do not redesign the website. Do not invent missing information. Do not change technical email addresses, environment variables, APIs, or backend configuration unless they genuinely represent public business information. Run the production build afterward. Tell me exactly what changed. Do not deploy automatically.

Test Your Profile & Keep It Accurate

Verify the Important Actions

Once the profile is live, search for the business on Google Search and Google Maps. Check what a customer actually sees. Confirm that:

Business name is correct

Phone button uses the right number

Website button opens the correct website

Address/map pin is correct if displayed

Service area is accurate

Opening hours are correct

Business category makes sense

Photos represent the actual business

The website works well on mobile
