Business Name
Your Business Name
Customer SMS Message
Hi {{customer_name}}, we received your {{service_name}} booking request for {{appointment_date}} at {{appointment_time}}. We'll contact you soon to confirm.
Owner SMS Message
New booking request: {{customer_name}} requested {{service_name}} on {{appointment_date}} at {{appointment_time}}. Phone: {{customer_phone}}
Optional: update field names if needed
This SMS function works with common booking fields like: full_name, phone, appointment_date, start_time, service_id, and service_name. If your project uses different field names, update FIELD_MAP inside the function to match your booking table.
FIELD_MAP
const FIELD_MAP = { customerName: ["full_name", "customer_name", "name"], customerPhone: ["phone", "phone_number", "customer_phone"], appointmentDate: ["appointment_date", "date", "booking_date"], appointmentTime: ["start_time", "appointment_time", "time"], serviceName: ["service_name", "service"], serviceId: ["service_id"], };
Connect the Webhook
Choose your bookings table
In this video, we use: public.appointments If your project uses a different booking table, choose that table instead.
Go to Supabase Database Webhooks
Supabase → Database → Webhooks → Create webhook
Use these webhook settings
Webhook Settings
Table: public.appointments Event: Insert Type: Supabase Edge Functions Function: send-sms-notification Method: POST
Only enable the Insert event
Test the SMS Notification
Create a new booking from your website
Check if the customer received the SMS
Check Supabase Edge Function Logs
Supabase → Edge Functions → send-sms-notification → Logs
Check Twilio Messaging Logs if needed
Twilio → Messaging → Logs
Before going live, check SMS rules for your country
SMS requirements vary by country
SMS requirements can vary by destination country. Before using this in production, check Twilio’s messaging requirements for your target country. For example, app-based SMS to U.S. numbers may require A2P 10DLC registration.
